Our travel continues through the beautiful villages of Val d’Orcia. Our section today is dedicated to Montalcino.
South of Siena, high on the top of a hill rises the enchanted medieval village of Montalcino, rounded by its strong city walls and overlooked by the ancient castle. From its top the landscape is simply magnificent: a valley rich of olive trees and vineyards, spaced by sinuous hills covered by colourful flowers and crossed by narrow white lanes. You are overlooking the beautiful Parco Naturale della Val D’Orcia.
It is a real pleasure to walk along the medieval streets

The first mention about Montepulciano dated the 715 a.C. when the village was known as “mount or Politiano castle”. Nowadays, Montepulciano is a medieval Tuscan village famous mostly for the production of Vino Nobile, an important Italian red wine today shipped worldwide.
